November 11 and 12, 2006 – Roman Nose State Park
This mini-roadtrip was taken as a celebration of Graham’s birthday, and as a celebration of having a little time, a little money, and a good roadtripping car!
We left on Friday at 6pm and arrived at the hotel in Watonga at around 8:30pm, so it was already past dark and we couldn’t do any exploration. On Saturday, we woke up bright and earyl and had breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant where Sonny first had, and fell in love with, omelettes. We then started our chilly morning, eploring all that we could find at Roman Nose.
We hiked around the park for about six hours straight. We found many exciting happenings in nature, such as waterfalls and natural bridges. And although it was quite chilly throughout the day, overall it was very pleasant hiking weather. We basically listened to David Bowie the full weekend, so it was a completely fab trip altogether.
“I, I will be king
And you, you will be queen
Though nothing will drive them away
We can beat them, just for one day
We can be Heroes, just for one day
And you, you can be mean
And I, I’ll drink all the time
‘Cause we’re lovers, and that is a fact
Yes we’re lovers, and that is that
Though nothing, will keep us together
We could steal time,
just for one day
We can be Heroes, for ever and ever
What d’you say?
I, I wish you could swim
Like the dolphins, like dolphins can swim
nothing will keep us together
We can beat them, for ever and ever
Oh we can be Heroes,
just for one day”
