Mount Scott – Elgin, OK

March 24, 2007 – Mount Scott and Medicine Park

Mount Scott Map

This roadtrip was another celebration of having the weekend off of work, having a little money, and having a great roadtripping car.  Sonny had just purchased his first car and he couldn’t wait to take it on the road.  We left Friday evening and arrived in Lawton with just enough light to see a few prairie dogs in the field next to the hotel.

Saturday morning we woke up bright and early to make the trek up the mountain.  Graham, being scared of heights but not minding as long as he was driving and there was loud music, (we chose R.E.M) did all of the mountain driving.  We only spent about two hours hiking and exploring however, due to the insane amount of constant wind.

On our way back to Lawton, we stumbled upon the tiny town of Medicine Park.  We fell in love with the quaint gorgeousness of the small town and stayed for about an hour, photographing and dancing around the abandoned buildings.  Great weekend trip!

“Shiny happy people laughing

Meet me in the crowd, people, people
Throw your love around, love me, love me
Take it into town, happy, happy
Put it in the ground where the flowers grow
Gold and silver shine

Shiny happy people holding hands
Shiny happy people holding hands
Shiny happy people laughing

Everyone around, love them, love them
Put it in your hands, take it, take it
There’s no time to cry, happy, happy
Put it in your heart where tomorrow shines
Gold and silver shine

Shiny happy people holding hands
Shiny happy people holding hands
Shiny happy people laughing “
