August 10, 2009 – Indiana State Capitol Building
The Indiana State Capitol building was our fourth ever capitol building we visited, and second one we were able to tour the inside of. We were completely impressed! We really loved the whole general area of Indianapolis where the capitol building was located. We parked in a lot about a ten minutes walk away from the capitol, and it was a most lovely day. We stayed at the capitol for probably 45 minutes doing the tour and taking photos.
After we left the capitol and walked out the front door, the first thing you immediately notice looking out is the Soldiers and Sailor’s Monument. It is just so large and impressive and a wonderful little area in Indianapolis. It’s located in the Indiana War Memorial Plaza Historic District. It sure was a happening area on a pleasant Monday afternoon during lunchtime, and there were even a few hot dog street vendors. First time we had been to a city large enough to see that kind of thing!
After we finished exploring the war memorial plaza, we walked a bit further around this area and enjoyed everything we viewed pretty much. We would definitely love to come back to Indianapolis one day and see what else there is to discover!
Loved these little birds! I spent a solid 15 minutes watching them and photographing them in complete amusement. :)
