Cadillac Ranch – Amarillo, TX

September 5, 2009 – Cadillac Ranch

I am the biggest fan of anything quirky and I suppose everyone knows that, because when I announced we were heading to New Mexico and Colorado for the week everyone told me we must stop by Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo, Texas.  I am so glad we did!  We stopped at a local Walmart and purchased two bottles of spray paint, and had a most fun 20 minutes.  Sonny spray painted “The Cake Is a Lie” and I wrote a lot of “I love Sonny” and other gooey love messages.  :)  Oh, and we both made lots of smiley faces of course.  Always with the smiley faces!

“Pistol shots
Gun shots
Pistol shots
Gun shots

Bullets from a revolver
Bullets from a gun
Bullets through the atmosphere
Here they come

John, I’ve been bad
And they’re coming after me
Done someone wrong
And I fear that it was me

Sapphire bullets
Bullets of pure love

Sapphire bullets
Bullets of pure love”

We arrived just shortly after sunrise, and it was such a gorgeously foggy morning!  Loved the photographs it made for.

While we were already in the outskirts of Amarillo, we decided to also visit another quirky roadside attraction…  The Huge Pair of Legs!  Commissioned by the same fella who is the reason we have the awesomeness that is Cadillac Ranch, it’s only about 10 minutes away and definitely worth the short detour.
