August 27, 2010 – Rapid City, South Dakota
We had a great time in Rapid City, South Dakota! Of course its the home of Mount Rushmore, but besides that there is just so much to do and see here. Sonny also visited the South Dakota Air and Space Museum, but I dropped him off to see that alone, and naturally he didn’t take any photos, so there won’t be any photos of that in this post. But, I did spend far too much time photographing the rest of the city, so I think we’re good. ;) Oh, and Mount Rushmore has its own post right after this one, because I just took far too many photos, of course.
First stop in Rapid City… The Tire Guy! Haha, he was on our route to another destination and was worth the stop to see the colorful cheerfulness of the tire guy. :)
The Chapel in the Hills was such an amazing and gorgeous building seemingly randomly placed in South Dakota’s Blake Hills. Loved taking a short exploration of it and enjoying the architecture. I mean, how fun would it be to get married here??
Rapid City is called the City of Presidents, and what else would the town that hosts Mount Rushmore be called? We loved seeing all of the presidential statues on the corners of the historical downtown district. If we would have had more time, it would’ve been a blast to find all of the presidents but we were in a hurry as always, and couldn’t wait to get to Mount Rushmore.
