SEPTEMBER 2, 2010 – St Joseph North Pier Lighthouse – St. Joseph, MI
On our adventure of Lakes and Lighthouses, St Joseph North Pier Lighthouse was our first lighthouse to see in Michigan. It was very gorgeous! We visited on a crazy windy day and the whole area was empty of people. The waters were super wavy and it was a very chilly day. Lots of waves crashed onto the lighthouse as we visited, and so we didn’t get too close like we normally do. We got about half-way down the catwalk and Sonny got absolutely drenched by the wave. And I included a photo at the end of that particular hilarity. ;)
My favorite thing about this lighthouse is this little tidbit: The St. Joseph Pier Lights were featured on a postage stamp issued in 1995.
Poor Sonny was just standing near the edge watching me photograph the lighthouse when a wave came out of nowhere and just drenched him. He was not a happy camper about it, as it was a chilly day and the water was freezing. But he did laugh about it later that day. ;)
